Someone's been busy!

Look at these, aren't they gorgeous? Fabric designed by the very talented Susie of the FlowerPress. It is called Rick Rack and comes in these 2 fab colours (Strawberry and Aqua - delicious!). Both are beautiful, but I do think that the Aqua one is just that little bit beautiful-ler. But the red one is perfect for Christmas sewing, don't you think?

I think you should run over to her wee shop and get yourself some! And while you're there, pick up some fab tea towels - that filigree one is my favourite. Nice!

H & M Home

OMG! The new H & M Home line is ALMOST HERE! One week to go. Waaaah! From the pictures it looks very intriguing with some must-have pieces. I better get on the phone to tell my mum what to get me for my birthday! ;-) Click on the picture below for a larger version.
These pictures are screen shots from the Danish H&M website. You can find a press release about it all here + more pictures in detail. Apparently, this will not be awailable everywhere, but it will be in Denmark and probably rest of Scandinavia. Huzzah!

Do some good!

I don't know if you've heard about the OzBushfireAppeal shop on Etsy? They are selling all kinds of items donated by Etsians. It "has been set up in response to the Australian Bushfire Tragedy." And the money raised goes to Australian Red Cross.

I wanted too pitch in too, in the small way that I can, and have donated a couple of brooches to the shop. (here and here)

There are all kinds of things available: art, bags, accessories, yarn, jewellery and loads more.
And what is also quite awesome about the shop is that shipping is absolutely free. Go check it out!

Seriously, I NEED all of the following

Glass for growing hyacinth. It is GREEN, need I say more?

A FAKE deer trophy. Cute. So cute.

A porcelain grater. For garlic, yes. Would be so much easier to clean than one of those garlic presses. Which I haven't got. Exactly because it is such a bore to clean.
A mug which you can write on with chalk. SE-RI-OUS-LY. I could make Tony a cup of tea and write on it: I *heart* you.

Ohhhh dear, this cake stand is so simple and pretty and elegant. Of course, at chez moi it would be used to hold some of the delicious cakes my dear husband makes.

All these lovely things, and more, are available from the Danish shop called Tiger. Pronounced 'teeer', not how you think you should pronounce it. If you are very lucky (you live in Denmark) you can go to a Tiger shop right in your own country too: England, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Iceland and the Netherlands. PS: what does "Lekker surfen in het donker" mean?

I guess it is a dead give away whenever a trip to Denmark draws near. I get to thinking about things I want/need to do while there, places I'd like to go, food I'd like to eat and little things I want to take home with me. And it is always silly things I take home. Like, bordering on ridiculous: washing up brushes! But, you see, the English do their dishes with a cloth, or sometimes a sponge. Bizarre. Which of course is the reason why they don't know how to make a proper washing up brush. ;-)

Pretty vases

I can't remember where I got the link to these from, but aren't they just fab? I think so! I've had the link sitting in a tab in my browser for ages; I want to add it to my Wists, but it won't let me for some bizarre reason. They're from Crate and Barrel. I wish I could get my hands on these!

Monday MugShot

Here's one of our mugs. Or, I should say, Tony's. Because, to be honest, most of our mugs are his. I rarely drink anything that requires a mug; I don't like coffee or tea, and I drink hot chocolate too rare to require 'fancy' mugs. Although, maybe if I had nice mugs I'd want to use them more?

But I gave him this fine dragon specimen. He likes dragons and I like blue on white china. A perfect match! I got it from the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

Here's a mug (from Fishs Eddy)I really like. Other than drinking hot stuff out of, I think it would be good for pencils etc. And quite appropriate...

Leaves + cake toppers

Aren't these magnetic leaves awesome? And can't you just imagine a million places where they would be (errm) useful?! From here (search for magnetic leaves, there's no static link). {via swissmiss}

So... we're thinking about using mini Star Wars Lego figures as cake toppers for the wedding. Only, who to pick? Han and Leia, probably... Although a Kit Fisto and Zam Wesell combo would be pretty cool. But perhaps a bit too geeky, atleast some people would recognise Leia and Han.

Hmmm, I feel like watching Attack of the Clones now... ;-)

Pink balls + blue balls

So here are the earrings I mentioned yesterday. Aren't they super-cute? They are from Isis' lovely shop Paperflowergirl. I'd been eyeing them for a little while, and had hinted to Tony that they might not be a bad birthday present. But then I got worried someone else might snap them up, so I bought them myself!

And Isis is such a star; because she felt she was a bit late sending it to me, she also sent me this brooch. Now if that isn't customer service, I don't know what is! Do go check out Isis' shop. :-)

And here's the blanket I'm making for Tony. It's about its fourth or fifth incarnation. At first it was going to be made from knitted squares, but then I got hooked on crochet so I unravelled all the squares I'd already made. And I've started this a few time as a crochet blanket; last time it was a giant granny square. But seeing as Tony is quite tall, it would have to be a very big square. So here we are, back to the soft wave pattern. I'm using a pretty large hook, so it's working up pretty quickly. I'm not sure I've got enough yarn, though, I think I've made it a bit too wide. But that's a bridge we'll cross when we get to it...

Breakfast apron

An apron from Cath Kidston in a new (I think?) print called Breakfast. I just love it! Below you can see the pattern a bit better.

And then in the clearance part of their website, you can find this absolute bargain (below): £900.00 per metre!! And it's not just a typo in the description, if you add it to your basket and go to the checkout, it still says 900. Must be some mighty fancy fabric!

He he he he.. I just found this tee on the interwebs. I would so get it for Tony, but I don't like the font and the heart makes it look kinda kitschy so I probably won't. It's pretty funny though. :-)

Sugar sweet boots

I promise, there will be some crafting here soon - in stead of just posts about stuff I want..!
But how could I not post about these pretty (prrrrrrretty!) boots from Sugar? I think I rather covet the above pair, but all of them are pretty sweet.
I actually saw them in Denmark, but they were way too expensive. They are a little less pricy here, so... who knows...
Although I have seen some other boots, leather, from a company called Oxygen (I can't find a website for them) and they are probably a bit more practical than boots made from cloth. And they are green too. Which I how I spotted them - I'm not normally on the lookout for new footwear. I'm quite happy to wear my comfy whatever until they fall to pieces! ;-)

I'll have some Toast, please!

This morning I was browsing Elle Decoration at WH Smith and there was a little booklet in it from a company called Toast. It looked very pretty, so I had a look at their website. I am in love! I don't think there's a lot of things there I wouldn't buy - providing I had sufficient funds! ;-)
So pretty I can barely stand it! Cobweb lace bed jacket. The colour is so lovely!

Burford throw. The colours are so beautiful.

Annick shoulder bag. If ever there was a yummy bag, this is it!

Jaipur nightdress. What I wear at night is very minimalistic. ;-) But I think i could wear this...

Gorgeous 'ghan

Good golly! How pretty is that afghan?! I can answer that: very, VERY pretty. It is from Nordhjem, a Danish shop which sells all kinds of gorgeous stuff. I got a few things from there for my birthday.

I think an afghan similar to this one will be my next big crochet project. Well, not now, because crocheting with wool isn't so comfortable in summer. I'm already struggling with the ripple 'ghan; I can only work on it when the weather isn't too hot!

They have yarn too!!

My mum and I went to London on Saturday to look at shops and such. We started off by going to Marylebone High Street, which has lots of nice shops. Of course, I had to take my mum to the Cath Kidston shop there and she was in love with it too! Then we just had a wander, and popped into Skandium which has Scandinavian design - it's always so amazing to me to see Danish stuff in shops in other countries, I really get a kick out of it. In Skandium we also saw this guy who is on telly here in the UK, but I can't rememeber his name or what programme he does. But it's something with design and decorating (yeah, I know, not a lot to chose from then!).

Then we had hot chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkled on top at Starbucks. So good! After that we walked over to Regent Street where I wanted to have a look in Liberty. Oh golly, people! It's like a paradise of fabric and yarn (nevermind all the other things too!). In fact, when we stepped out of the lift on the 3rd floor (fabric), I did actually exclaim: They have yarn too!! Because that was what met my eyes. Lots and lots of yarn, for knitting, crocheting and embroidery. And bolts and bolts of lovely, pretty fabric. All so very tempting, but you know what... I actually managed to leave without buying anything!

I absolutely would not have minded staying there for quite some time, but eventually we left and braved the throngs in Oxford Street. Bloody hell, there are a lot of tourists there! It got better as soon as we turned onto Tottenham Court Road where we went into Paperchase. Which is another fantastic shop. And if you like the stationary and such they have on the ground floor, you should go to the top floor. They have beautiful, beautiful paper of all kinds. Crepe and tissue paper. Printed paper, embossed, flocked(!) and handmade paper. Almost too much to stand!

A really lovely day. It was so nice to have my mum here for a few days. To go (window) shopping, chat and all that stuff you can't do over the phone or in an email. Unfortunately, now she's gone home, and it'll probably be a while before she comes over here again. At least we're going to Denmark in a little over two weeks. Yay!

You know softies are hip...

When even the fashion designers start making them! Or, rather, designing them. I can't exactly imagine Christian Lacroix sitting in his sofa watching a film while stitching up a softie. Or maybe I just have a lack of imagination..?

It's cool that things like softies have become so popular, and maybe the fact that designers like these are designing them, will open people's eyes to the awesomeness of softies and the like.

However, I must say, I don't think these are particularly interesting examples of softie making, there are lots of lesser known crafters/designers out there who make softies whivh are a lot better.
Fashion Monsters by Christian Lacroix

Pictures from Marie Claire Maison. The softies are available at Habitat as part of their VIP for kids range.

Yikes! I think I'm in love

Look at those skirts. I mean, just LOOK at them!! They are frigging GORGEOUS!! I think my favourite is the green one. No. The coral one. Or the blue one. Or...

Yep, I'm in love with the Tree Top skirts from Made With Love by Hannah.

I wonder if I can persuade T that I NEED one of these skirts...

Cool stuff for babies

This is the Thilde Pillow, designed by Swedish Pia Eriksson. It has a cool story:

When my daughter Thilde was born, I was given some useful advice form other mothers "whatever you do, don't cut off the laundry labels on your daughter’s cuddly toys".

When Thilde got her first cuddly toy, the first thing that brought her attention was... yes you guessed it... the laundry label. My daughter sucked, bit, and carefully studied these magical labels, and that was when the idea of "The Thilde Pillow" was born.
Isn't that great?! It's things like this I absolutely love. Because it's pretty, but especially because I like when people re-think everyday objects or re-think everyday life and use it to create something that is useful, interesting and fun. Simple ideas make life better.

Mormor

I've stumbled upon a site that sells baby- and childrenswear from the time when grandma was young. (Mormor.nu means Grandma.now in danish.)
At Mormor.nu all employees are from the generation that made everything by hand. Our youngest employee is 68, and a granma herself.

I think that is pretty cool and they have some really cute things!

Mormor means (maternal) grandma in Danish.

There's a Danish and an English version.
