I like...
...to wrap presents in a simple and kind-of messy way... using my new Japanese masking tape and a paper 'doily'...
...the brown paper is from IKEA - quite cheap and fairly sturdy... must remember to get some more....

Someone's been busy!
Look at these, aren't they gorgeous? Fabric designed by the very talented Susie of the FlowerPress. It is called Rick Rack and comes in these 2 fab colours (Strawberry and Aqua - delicious!). Both are beautiful, but I do think that the Aqua one is just that little bit beautiful-ler. But the red one is perfect for Christmas sewing, don't you think?
I think you should run over to her wee shop and get yourself some! And while you're there, pick up some fab tea towels - that filigree one is my favourite. Nice!

Mmmm.. sticky!
He he he. I am right giddy, I am. Over something as silly as tape. Japanese washi masking tape. I've been wanting (no 'need' involved whatsoever, oh the frivolousness of it!) some of it for ages, but I was (im)patiently waiting for the right combination of spare cash, the best price and an occasion to use the tape. Well, I found the right price and I fancy using the tape on Sunday, so 2 out of 3 ain't so bad, huh?
I got it from the UGUiSU shop on Etsy, but there are LOADS of shops that sell this sort of thing. Just do a search for 'japanese masking tape' and be prepared to be overwhelmed!
The little package was rather pretty too, just look at those beautiful stamps. Why don't Royal Mail use nice ones like that? Usually, all you see are those boring solid coloured ones with the Queen...
Love the minicard as well, isn't it lovely?Labels: colours, oh so pretty

Herb jars

Herb jars from Tesco. I really like the label. The line drawing is ace, but even acer is the large 'O' and 'B'. It's nice when supermarkets make an effort with the look of their wares. Even something as mundane as a jar of herbs. :-)Labels: inspiration, oh so pretty

Pretty in pink and more
I thought I'd just show you a couple (or three) of my birthday presents. These are all from H&M Home! From my parents, naturally, 'cause you can only buy that stuff in Scandinavia (as far as I know).
In the picture above is a socalled hamam towel. It has a lovely texture to it, but I don't think I would use it as a towel. Instead I am going to use it as a (wide!) table runner. Very sophisticated with the gray and white stripes, no? :-)
Then, this fab bag. I am just in love with that image. So happy and busy and colourful. And so very 70s!
The bag didn't come alone, it came in a set with this huge piece of fabric. It is hemmed and everything. But there is no indication as to what it is for in the catalogue, it's just called 'fabric'. Very puzzling. But hey, I don't mind a large piece of fab fabric! Just haven't quite decided what to use it for. Unfortunately, I don't think my dear husband would like it as a bed spread - he's so boring! ;-)
And then there is this actual table runner. I really like this sort of drawings. A bit difficult to see it in this photo, pre-ironing. Still not been ironed, but what can ya do, eh?
Here you can see the drawings a lot better. Aren't they pretty? And, only when I was taking these pictures, did I notice that there are actually stitches here and there on the drawing! I know, it is made in Malaysia or something so it's not like it is 'handmade', if you know what I mean! But I still think it is a nice design touch. Gives it more dimension if you will.

Beautiful in red
I keep meaning to show off this beautiful brooch. It is a wee beautiful present from Jesse (thank you!). How lucky am I?! I love it to bits. And I am so afraid to loose (lose??!) it that I have yet to wear it outside the house. Instead it sits on my keyboard looking pretty.
Y'all must definitely check out Jesse's beautiful shop. Not least the brooches!
...I wonder if I've gone over the quota for using the word 'beautiful' in one post? Well, it's the only word that fits, so there! ;-)Labels: oh so pretty, thank you

H&M Home
Because you can only buy H&M Home stuff in Scandinavia (and only online), I had a catalogue sent to my parents' house so I could have a wee browse. You can see most of the pictures online, but sometimes it is nice to be able to turn physical pages, right? Plus, the H&M site is mostly Flash and that slows down my browser (= major annoyance!).
I thought maybe you'd like a peek at the catalogue too? I've taken some quick shots (so they are not top quality pics, sorry) of some of the pages I like the most. I made a set on Flickr with more pictures for your drooling-over-lovely-design pleasure. Needless to say, I wouldn't mind having most of these things in my home! ;-)

Pins'n'Roses
I was playing around with my camera this afternoon. Took looots of pictures for no reason. I'm startin' to think that's the best reason. Practicing composition. Good stuff. More on Flickr.
Last night I dreamt that I bit my tongue somethin' awful. However, the pain in my tongue would suggest that it wasn't a dream after all. Hate it when that happens.
Lighthouses, oldfashioned birdcages and sailing ships are on my mind lately... Embroidery pattern?Labels: just stuff, oh so pretty

Lavande in French
What do you do when you have a supply of dried lavender? Why, of course you make lavender sachets!
And with a lavender stamp for decoration, well, you'd be excused for thinking you were in the south of France.
They are so simple to make it is almost embarrassing! But I think sometimes the simple, instant gratification, projects are the best.
And it makes me happy that these are now in my fabric drawers so my fabric will smell lovely.Labels: oh so pretty, sewing

One of the best things about the yellow and white mobile I made in August last year is the shadows cast from it. I can sit and look at them for ages. Without being bored. Better than most of what's on telly.Labels: oh so pretty

Some of my current favourites from Etsy. Prettilicious artwork.
Where we live, a lot of people seem unable to pronounce Thursday properly. It sounds more like Fursday. Or Phursday. It's an example of the Estuary dialect. It is a very interesting phenomenon. Especially for someone who has learnt English as a second language. Proper English, mind. Sometimes I haven't got a clue what people are talking about because of this silly dialect. 'fankew', for example, can you guess what that means? ;-)Labels: oh so pretty

Tea towel favourites
1. Filigree design by FlowerPress 2. Spring by dizzydezign 3. Kitchen Tea Towel by munchstuff 4. Olive Eep by skinnylaminx 5. Orla by skinnylaminx 6. Ice Cream Lollies by MrPS 7. Big Breakfast by MrPS 8. Mugs by skinnylaminx 9. Spring Bloom by alisontauber
I've been looking at tea towels on Etsy and these are some of my favourites. Most of them, actually. There just aren't a lot which have that modern and clean that doesn't feel cold and sterile. There does seem to be a lot of horrible ones... or maybe that's just me... If I had a screen print set-up I think I'd have a go at making my own. For now I shall just covet these pretties (unfortunately, I'm not in a position to justify buying them!)
Green is my preferred colour for things for the kitchen, but I think I might just sneak a couple of pretty blues in there too. ;-) Do you have a favourite colour for kitchen stuff?Labels: oh so pretty

Girly Orla
This is probably about as far as I'll get to owning an Orla Kiely original. I got these badges at Tate Modern yesterday. I couldn't decide which colour to get, so I though, what the heck, I'll just get all three. And really, they do look better together. In my opinion anyway. They had several things designed by her, for the Tate. But tempting as it was, I ain't paying £20 for an umbrella!
I have a bunch of pictures from London from yesterday, but I just can't be bothered to go through them and adjust them, so that'll have to wait.
Orla is a funny name. In Denmark it's a guy's name. And a pretty old fashioned one as well.Labels: london, oh so pretty

Pears
Finally! Something I made! It's my very first ATC. Lots of stitching and I guess you could call it a quilt because there is a piece of felt in between the front and back. It was fun to make and I think I'll make more. It's a very portable format! Although, of course I sat in front of the telly while making this. ;-)
Last night we went to IKEA and do you think I could go home without these beautiful bags? Nope. It's a whole box full of bags in two sizes (25 of each). The red one is about twice as big as the green one. That design on the front is just awesome!
Edit: The bags are called Istad and they come in an almost completely plain white box. I can't remember which department we found them in. :-)

rice vase love
I've been slightly obsessed with this vase for a little while now. And of course my obsession does not decrease by the fact that I don't know who makes it or where I can slap my hands on it. It really is just about the prettiest vase I have ever seen. The shape, the colour... amazing. This picture I've taken from a Danish magazine, and I suspect that it might be from a Danish company. Do you know where it is from?
Nevermind! I just found out that it's from rice, one of my favourite decor type companies ever. Should have known. I know what I'll be looking out for when we go to Denmark next! And they have it in several pretty colours; how will I be able to choose?Labels: oh so pretty

Gorgeous gradients
So, there was a little bit of juice left in my camera batteries. Enough to capture the sky last night. Certainly, one to be immortalised!
Now, time for work. Adios!Labels: oh so pretty

I'm spoiled
This is what was the box from my sister. Just look at those pretty colours!
Rip paper, rip paper and what do you see? An issue of Cloth Paper Scissor, some foam stamp thingies which look very interesting (it's a bit hard to take a picture of, sorry), some pretty fabric, which I would never have picked, but absolutely love (this is what sister are for, right? knowing what we like even when we don't ourselves), some crochet hooks and a very short jacket type garment (that's the red, white and gold thing on the right). There was also 3 issues of Adorn in the parcel, but I actually paid for those myself, so that's not really a present, heh.
And then there was this beauty. I also bought this myself, but had it sent to my sister because having it sent to England would have cost me a fortune. Those are Star Wars stamps in case you hadn't guessed. I bought them last year; they celebrate 30 years of SW. Weeee!
Won't be getting to those emails tonight either. I'm going to have an early night, because today at work I was completely in a world of my own because I was so tired! Pathetic. ;-)Labels: family, oh so pretty, star wars

Love yellow?!
A little while ago I ordered some more gocco supplies and today they arrived. Yay! They are not that interesting in themselves, but just look at these little extras that Leslie (from a little goodness on Etsy) sent along too. Japanese sweets! And I'm not completely sure, but I think the card might be gocco'ed...
But these little paper bags. They are just killing me, so so pretty. And it's weird, because I'm not really a yellow lover. What gives!? Preeeetty!
And speaking of that gocco, when am I ever going to actually use it?! I don't know. I really, really want to, but I think I'm scared that I'll mess it up and waste the bulbs (which you can only use once)! I don't like this kind of... fear. And I don't like being precious with my materials. They can't possibly be worth more unused than whatever work I do with them and the experience I gain from it. Even if I 'fail'. Maybe I just need to Get Over It and Give It A Go! Oi.
I told Tony that I HAVE TO use it before we go to Denmark at the end of this month. After all, it was a birthday present from my parents and I want to give them something I made with it. Feel free to bug me about it too. ;-)
Anyway, I love postal ephemera. Stamps of course, but not just. It's the whole thing, air mail stickers, customs declarations and what not.

Pretty vases
I can't remember where I got the link to these from, but aren't they just fab? I think so! I've had the link sitting in a tab in my browser for ages; I want to add it to my Wists, but it won't let me for some bizarre reason. They're from Crate and Barrel. I wish I could get my hands on these!Labels: oh so pretty, shop 'til you drop

Shoes + shoes
I've needed a replacement for my good old red trainers and this is it! Could these Converse BE any awesom-er? I think not.
Just look at that little cutie. And a fab colour combination, don't you think? (Camilla Engman is a genius, right!) Unfortunately, the left one rubs against my heel something bad. Hopefully, a heel liner will solve that!
And what do you think of these (ok, there is only one in the picture, but it seems weird to refer to just one; usually you wear a pair of shoes, not just one..) lovelies? They will most likely be my shoes for the wedding. I just haven't tried them in the right size yet. Hopefully they are a perfect match for my weird feet! ;-)Labels: oh so pretty, wedding

Gorgeous reds
I cut this picture out of a magazine a while ago. Aren't those shoes fab? Seriously? Shame I can't wear heels or I'd hunt those suckers down so I could wear them at the wedding. I guess I'll just have to admire them from a distance.
If you want to have a look, my first post is up on the Feeling Stitchy blog. It's weird, I feel kinda nervous about it..!Labels: embroidery, oh so pretty

Colourful button love
How about now? I'm absolutely smitten with those two stripy yellow buttons in the middle. Treasure.
All organised and sorted into colours. I desperately need some more green and light blue and aqua and bright red.Labels: crafty, oh so pretty

Pink balls + blue balls
So here are the earrings I mentioned yesterday. Aren't they super-cute? They are from Isis' lovely shop Paperflowergirl. I'd been eyeing them for a little while, and had hinted to Tony that they might not be a bad birthday present. But then I got worried someone else might snap them up, so I bought them myself!
And Isis is such a star; because she felt she was a bit late sending it to me, she also sent me this brooch. Now if that isn't customer service, I don't know what is! Do go check out Isis' shop. :-)
And here's the blanket I'm making for Tony. It's about its fourth or fifth incarnation. At first it was going to be made from knitted squares, but then I got hooked on crochet so I unravelled all the squares I'd already made. And I've started this a few time as a crochet blanket; last time it was a giant granny square. But seeing as Tony is quite tall, it would have to be a very big square. So here we are, back to the soft wave pattern. I'm using a pretty large hook, so it's working up pretty quickly. I'm not sure I've got enough yarn, though, I think I've made it a bit too wide. But that's a bridge we'll cross when we get to it...Labels: crochet, oh so pretty, shop 'til you drop

Free confetti included
In two months exactly, we're going to Denmark. And just in time too, because Christmas in Denmark is on the 24th, in the evening. That's much nicer than this morning thing they do over here! ;-)
Tony bought this pack of kitchen roll the other day. It's a bit early for the Christmas kind, I think. But, ignoring that fact, the illustrations on the packaging are really terribly cute. Don't you agree?!
I wonder who is the designer behind? Oddly enough, the package also included a small pack of confetti. I'm not really a fan of confetti, but I'm sure I can find another use for it. Card decorating, perhaps.
I'm working on a couple of Christmas-y tutorials for some decorations which are rather pretty, plus they put all those 'privacy' envelopes to good use.Labels: oh so pretty, xmas

Sugar sweet boots
I promise, there will be some crafting here soon - in stead of just posts about stuff I want..!
But how could I not post about these pretty (prrrrrrretty!) boots from Sugar? I think I rather covet the above pair, but all of them are pretty sweet.
I actually saw them in Denmark, but they were way too expensive. They are a little less pricy here, so... who knows...
Although I have seen some other boots, leather, from a company called Oxygen (I can't find a website for them) and they are probably a bit more practical than boots made from cloth. And they are green too. Which I how I spotted them - I'm not normally on the lookout for new footwear. I'm quite happy to wear my comfy whatever until they fall to pieces! ;-)

Stripy colours
It's actually autumn here now - it's been raining ALL DAY long today!
Well, what better way to brighten up the day than with some stripy socks in different colours?
And would you be surprised if I told you that right now I'm actually wearing two socks on each foot? ;-)Labels: oh so pretty, seasons

I'll have some Toast, please!
This morning I was browsing Elle Decoration at WH Smith and there was a little booklet in it from a company called Toast. It looked very pretty, so I had a look at their website. I am in love! I don't think there's a lot of things there I wouldn't buy - providing I had sufficient funds! ;-)
So pretty I can barely stand it! Cobweb lace bed jacket. The colour is so lovely!
Burford throw. The colours are so beautiful.
Annick shoulder bag. If ever there was a yummy bag, this is it!
Jaipur nightdress. What I wear at night is very minimalistic. ;-) But I think i could wear this...

For you...
I'm using this picture as a wallpaper on my computer; I thought you might like it too. Just click on it to go to the large version (1024x768 px - if you'd like an even larger version, I'll be happy to make one). Those are asters. I never realised that I liked them before. But I do.
Tony is watching Superman on telly and I (like the geek I am) am keeping an eye on the last leg of my parents' flight home from the US. I must admit, I don't much like trans-atlantic flights. All that water, for so long. I shall be glad when they are back home. So I can call them - I've not spoken to my mum in two weeks! ;-) I hope they've had a splendid holiday visiting my sister. I wish I could go visit her... but that wont happen for some time, unfortunately!Labels: family, oh so pretty

Look what I got!!!
Yikes - look how pretty the paper is, and the card; so cute! It came in the mail today. When Tony came home and told me that there was a package for me from my friend Mette in Denmark (Hej Mette!), my first thought was "oh no! I managed to send her birthday present while she was on holiday and now it's been returned to me!"
But it wasn't, thank the Force. No, she's sent me some lovely pretties as a thank you! Just look at that matryoshka doll face on the box she decoupaged for me - I love Russian nesting dolls, and she knew that. And ribbon/fibres in such pretty colours I can barely stand it.
Oh and that fabric... I must have a good think and come up with a project that's worthy of such beauty.
There was a lovely letter as well, which is one of the best things to receive in this age of email..!
And in that letter she told me she reads this here blog, which is pretty neat, 'cause I didn't think anyone from "back home" did that.
Tak, søde Mette! :-)Labels: mail, oh so pretty

Much hobbling
While I fiddle about with my CV, here's something pretty to look at. I took this last night, at great pain: for some unknown reason my left foot really hurts, and has done for the past couple of days.
So, if ye can, imagine me hobbling to the dining table where the camera was, then hobbling to the shelf where the key for the doors is, and then finally hobbling to the doors to take the picture. Yes, Tony had a good giggle at my expense, so I don't mind if you do too.
And do yourself a favour and click on the picture to see the bigger version. It really is pretty with the clouds and the black silhouette against the sky.
...right, I'm supposed to work on that CV...Labels: oh so pretty

Crochet beauties
Ack, to be able to crochet like Marianne! Just look at that scarf - so beautiful! And all her other things are equally beautiful, in fact, so much I had trouble making up my mind about which one to blog about. So I picked the thing I saw first {via}.
You absolutely must check out the rest of the Flickr set - even if you're not into crochet. It is so good!Labels: inspiration, oh so pretty

For the wrist
Hey, what a beautiful day. Not really, it's been raining on and off all day.
But still it feels like the sun has been shining on me. Maybe because I was playing around with my hand carved stamps and some linen (my original idea was to make some cards) and then I suddenly had the idea for these cuffs.
Oh how I love them! Is it okay to say that?! ;-) Especially the top and middle ones. The middle one is like wearing a wee garden on your wrist, and the top one I can see sooo many colour combinations for.
I can see myself making a lot of these in the very near future. Like, tomorrow!

Glansbilleder - wee pretty pictures
Aren't these just the most exquisite roses ever?! When I was going through some of my things in my parents' loft, I found an album with scraps (I believe this is what they are called in English...) which I used to collect when I was little. In Danish they are called 'glansbilleder', which would mean something like 'shiny pictures', probably because they are somewhat shiny... Some have texture and glitter as well.
I loved these ladies - how couldn't you?! So beautiful and elegant. I don't know if children (girls, really) still collect glansbilleder. Maybe they are too busy with their mobile phones...
I absolutely treasured the scraps, and I especially loved these gorgeous girls. Wouldn't you just love to have a dress like one of theirs?
A lot of the scraps are flowers or have a lot of flowers in them, like this one, or the one at the top of the post.
And some are from different countries, like Germany and Sweden. And this one is definitely German, because they use(d) to get these cones (with candy, I believe) for the first day of school. I remember seeing these cones in shops in Germany, while on holiday, when I was little. I wonder what the history of those cones is...
Anyone else familiar with glansbilleder/scraps? You can go on over to Flickr and take a look at the rest of the collection of glansbilleder.
And you can go read more about scraps. Apparently, they originated in Germany where bakers would use them to decorate cakes. This is done in Denmark to this day, but only for one particular kind of cake, honninghjerter (honey hearts). They are made traditionally in the town of Christiansfeld, which was founded by German Herrnhuters (you see how this makes sense, then, eh?) and usually decorated with a Father Christmas scrap.
I actually had no idea about the heritage of Christiansfeld - isn't it funny how sometimes you can learn things when you aren't even looking? ;-)Labels: inspiration, oh so pretty

Soft and woolly
T's parents gave me a top for Christmas, but it wasn't completely my kind of thing, so they took it back and gave the money so I could buy something myself.
And I'd been looking loads of places, also in Monsoon which is one of my favourite shops. It's usually too expensive for me, but now with the January sales, it's within reach. ;-)
The first time we went to have a look, I didn't find anything I really liked, but on Saturday I insisted we go there again and lo! I found this baby! Oh, it's so so soft: mostly angora and wool.
And I so love the details on the sleeves and that it has the purl (I think that's what it's called) of the knitting that is showing. It makes it look delicate and different.
I swear, I almost squealed with delight when I saw it! ;-)

Isn't this gorgeous??
My mum made it some years ago. Such patience!
She should make more. I'd love to have one like this in our bedroom.

Dress!

Aw, I didn't win the Whiplash bag competition. Oh well, better luck next time.
Yesterday I got a new dress, it is so so pretty, it has flowers on it. Just look at that picture! Isn't it perfect?? It's from Monsoon; I love their clothes, but usually it's too expensive - thank the Force for whoever invented the SALE!
I'll be wearing it at my cousin's wedding next month. Although to be honest, I wish I could wear it all the time, everyday. Remember when you were little and you just wanted to wear your favourite dress ALL THE TIME?! (Well, I guess this only relates to the gals reading this...)Labels: colours, oh so pretty
