Porcelain decoration tutorial
Wow, you really like that cup, huh?! :-) Thank you very much for all your comments about it! Seeing as you're asking how I made it, here's a wee tutorial. It is very easy.
This is the magic wand pen that you need. Its the Pebeo Porcelaine 150. You should be able to find it (or something similar) at you favourite craft shop. Then you need something you want to decorate, which doesn't have to be white - and it might actually be fun to add something to an already decorated object!
Clean your mug (or whatever) with some white spirit, make sure it's dry and then you're ready to have fun! I suspect it is best to keep your greasy little fingers off the surface you want to decorate, so be careful how you hold it. Don't worry if you make a mistake when drawing on your mug, you can wipe it all off with water!
Once you're happy with your design, leave your mug to dry for 24 hours. Then put it in a cold oven and once the oven has reached a temperature of 150°C/300°F bake your mug for 35 minutes. Let your mug cool down in the oven. And that's it! Sooo easy, right?
I'm already pondering what to draw on next. Maybe my plain green mug..! Let me know how you get on with this, I'd love to see what you come up with. :-)

Friday MugShot
This is my mug. It is green. I like green. I drink hot chocolate from this mug. I like hot chocolate.
This is another green mug. A Pantone Lime green mug. I like lime green. And I'm sure this mug should be in my possession! ;-)Labels: mugs

Wednesday MugShot
We actually have two of these, one for each of us. You can imagine how we would squabble over a single Gromit mug, right? ;-) The nose changes colour when you pour hot water into it: it goes red. Very cool!
I love this mug (Jääkarhu). It's cute and a beautiful colour. Plus, it has polar bears. Polar. Bears. Ursus maritimus. And it's really cute. I guess I mentioned that already. It is designed by Klaus Haapaniemi for Marimekko, both of which are good things.Labels: mugs

Tuesday MugShot
Here's the next of our Tony's mugs. The character on it is called Harry and is/used to be the mascot for the Danish Railways. There was these extremely annoying commercials on telly with this Harry and his human sidekick Bahnsen. They always made me cringe, but Tony thinks they are funny. Although I suspect that he only says that to wind me up! Anyway, I bought him this mug for his birthday a few years ago.
Probably one of the cutest mugs ever is this Momiji one. Isn't it adorable?! Can you in any way blame me for wanting one? I thought so.

Monday MugShot
Here's one of our mugs. Or, I should say, Tony's. Because, to be honest, most of our mugs are his. I rarely drink anything that requires a mug; I don't like coffee or tea, and I drink hot chocolate too rare to require 'fancy' mugs. Although, maybe if I had nice mugs I'd want to use them more?
But I gave him this fine dragon specimen. He likes dragons and I like blue on white china. A perfect match! I got it from the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
Here's a mug (from Fishs Eddy)I really like. Other than drinking hot stuff out of, I think it would be good for pencils etc. And quite appropriate...Labels: mugs, shop 'til you drop
