Orange creative space

Lots of orange in the creative space today. Which, by the way, was me, solidly planted on the sofa while listening to Eros Ramazzotti. Nothin' like a bit of Eros on a cold October day. :-)

New embroidery in the works. Should be done very soon, hopefully. And, working on a copy of something my grandma made. There'll be a proper post about that at some point...

And... lunch. Although that wasn't in the creative space. But the colours sort of match. And it was a yummy lunch. Leftover chilli between two slices of Tony's homemade bread. Simple and awesome.

More creative spaces chez kootoyoo. Go check 'em out. :-)

Leftovers for lunch

Well, you know I like my lunch to be leftovers. Rice with chilli and beans, with a dollop of sourcream. Simple. But it felt kinda fancy with the tortilla chips.

What did you have for lunch?

Is lunch a boring topic?

My lunch. Leftovers from dinner last night. It's a hearty combo of onions, carrots and potatoes with a bit of fresh ginger, a couple of gloves of garlic, one chilli, juice of half a lime and a couple of handfuls of goji berries. Served with couscous and a generous dollop of sour cream. Quite nice. But if it is to have any effect on my cold (which was the intention), I think I would have to increase the amount of ginger, chilli and garlic. Just so I would be completely impossible to sleep next to! ;-)

Taken with the camera on my new phone. Which I am quite pleased with. Now that I finally have it! I ordered it at the end of January as part of an upgrade type thing from my soon-to-be former mobile provider (Orange), but after 2 weeks we'd heard nothing from them. A couple more days passed and then we contacted them and apparently they needed the 3 digit security code from the credit card (isn't that weird when you are already a customer?!) - why they hadn't contacted us about this, is a mystery to me (us) and seems like rather poor customer service. Then, nothing happened for several more days, a week perhaps. So we got in touch with them again and now it turned out that the phone was out of stock. What the f***?

So last Thursday we went to the Three shop at the local shopping centre. They did have it in stock, but I didn't have any ID with me, so they couldn't let me have it then and there (fair enough, it is a fairly new phone and with good specs and stuff). But on Saturday morning a postman delivered my new phone. In less than 2 days! I've not had problems with Orange before, but to be honest, the only reason I was with Orange was so we could get 2 for 1 cinema tickets. But we go to the cinema so rarely that it won't matter much.

Not sure why I told you all that, really. I guess I just wanted to have a little moan. Maybe I'm becoming English? ;-) Oh and, the new phone (which I got mainly for the onboard camera) is the Sony-Ericsson C905 in case you were wondering.

Right. I've got a green cake to bake!

Leftover lunch

'Scuse the not so great photo. The pizza itself was awesome. Ha ha!

The base is made with regular flour and spelt flour. Then, the topping: base slightly brushed with some tomato sauce I had in the fridge. Thin slices of potato and onion. Grated parmesan cheese sprinkled liberally all over. Bake for 20-25 minutes in 220° C oven. So yummy!

Sooo, tomorrow I'm going to the Danish embassy and afterwards I'm going to pop down to the Natural History Museum and V&A to do some drawing. I haven't done that in absolutely ages!

If anyone wants to join me - and I know this is totally like last minute, but anyway - email me! But keep in mind that I'm leaving home around 9AM tomorrow morning... ;-)

Lovely lunch

It is almost impossible to have a simpler, lovelier or tastier lunch than this one: husband's home made bread with organic pesto.

And soured cream

Leftovers from last night. Isn't that the best kind of lunch, really? No waste...

This morning I've been listening to the amazing album "As I Am" by Alicia Keys. I absolutely love it. She is so very soul full, in so very many ways.

Home made

A simple and slightly boring lunch today. But the roll is home made (this morning) and that really makes it absolutely terrific in all its simpleness.

I'm working on a BIG project, which is possibly the most complicated I've done in a very long. If not ever. But hopefully I'll finish it this afternoon. So... Ta ta for now!

My boring lunch

How's that for a boring lunch? Two small naan breads with some sour cream. But I didn't have time to deal with lunch today; I had better things to do! That's my excuse anyway. ;-) More about that later.

*** ***

Yikes. I just had a call from Tony and he's had a wee accident on his bike!! He's alright, but the front bit on his bike is busted. I guess this means a new bike... Again. The one he had before got stolen! But never mind, I'm just happy he's not hurt!

Tony's big heart

This was lunch. Leftovers from dinner last night and a home made roll. Simple as can be. :-)

Ok, my sweet Tony needs your help! He's been bitten by the bicycle bug and is doing a charity bike ride next month. And seeing as it's for charity, he needs some sponsors! The bike ride is Hearts First Bike Ride - London to Southend 2008 and it supports the British Heart Foundation. A very noble cause indeed. So, if you feel like sponsoring him (as much or as little as you can afford), follow this link. Tony will be very grateful for your support. And I'm terribly proud of him! Leave him a message of support as well, while you're there. :-)

This was lunch

A tiny bit of leftover veg & beans with mini farfalle (pasta bows), croissant and a bit of the the veg & bean salad I'm having for dinner tonight (made this morning, I just couldn't wait!).

Veg & bean salad is so yummy and simply to make. Finely chop half an onion, chop some tomatoes and peppers, mix with a tin of beans (or less, depends how bean-y you feel), a bit of olive oil, juice of half a lime fruit, a pinch of chilli, paprika, garlic powder and some salt and pepper. If you've got some tex-mex lying around, you could add some of that too. Leave in the fridge and eat cold as is, or in a roll as a sandwich. Heating it and having it in a roll is also nice. Very fresh and summery.

What did you have for lunch?

This is my lunch today: slice of toasted bread with butter (Lurpak! Go Denmark!) and leftover couscous + peas & sweetcorn with a dollop of sour cream.

If you read blog posts about what to write about in blog posts you are usually encouraged in not writing about what you had for lunch today. I wonder why? I suppose it is kinda boring, but then again, it isn't. Because I think it is nice to stop and notice these small things. These little forgotten moments of life. Maybe looking back at a post about your lunch you will remember that exact day, how the food tasted, what noises you could hear outside. Things like that. And maybe that is worth sharing after all?

And now that my stomach is full, I'm going to go down to the river with my watercolours and my embroidery and spend a couple of hours in the sunshine listening to the Thames and the birds and the wind in the willows trees.

Lunch + bad me

This was my lunch today. That thing on the slice of bread is called pålægschokolade (literally: put-on chocolate). It is a thin slice of milk or dark chocolate that you, well, put on bread. To my knowledge this isn't eaten anywhere else but in Denmark. Oh my, the culinary contribution of Denmark is astounding. But really, this is sooo yummy. And it's particularly good on rye bread.

Speaking of Denmark. I'm a bad, bad granddaughter, I forgot my granddad's birthday (yesterday) - and he even turned 90! Not good at all. And we also forgot to send a birthday card to my brother-in-law (for tomorrow). We're really doing well with the birthdays...

Wednesday lunch

Mmmmm, homemade hot cross buns. I love the spices and raisins. Warm with melting butter. You can't go wrong with that.

And this just in: Tony called me a wee while ago to tell me that he'd just seen Christopher Lee in the canteen at work. My reaction? "What?! You saw Count Dooku in the canteen!!?"

What do you think of this latest version of the invitation?

A picture of lunch

I firmly believe that lasagne is at its best as leftovers. Maybe because it has had time to 'set'? I also believe that there should be a proportionate amount of sauce in it; too often there is too much sauce and that makes for a poor lasagne in my opinion. It is called lasagne after all, and not sauce.

Lunch + crochet

Last night's leftovers = today's lunch. Rice with beans + vegs with a dollop of crème fraiche. Good stuff.

I've been making some different crochet brooches. Scrumbling (= freeform crochet) is awesome!

I made this red/pink combo from a pattern in a Danish crochet book. And you know what? It's for me. I sometimes forget to make things for myself. Recognise that?
