Berries with links
Hmmm... hello! I feel like it's kinda difficult for me to get back into blogging after our little holiday. So I'll just ease myself into it with this post: by sending you on to some other folks. So lazy, eh? ;-)

Oh jeez, you know I am so terrible at getting round to visit all of you lovely people who stop by and leave fun and clever comments. So... maybe you want to go visit each other? I mean, you're obviously a lot better at it than I am. ;-)

Lucy and the Electric Rainbow
Look. Just. Look. How adorable is this? Lucy with her Electric Rainbow granny blanket. She looks mighty pleased. And so am I, it's nice to see an actual kid (not just imaginary ones!) in this.
I didn't make this blanket, though. My friend Therese, Lucy's mum, did. She tested the pattern and pointed out all the typos I'd made, heh! But judging by the result, even my attempts at tripping up her crocheting didn't work. She did a wonderful job!
Do pop over to visit Therese's blog. It's quite new, but I have a feeling it is going to be a nice place to visit on a regular basis. :-)

Just a small bouquet of links for you today. I am waaaay too sleepy to manage anything else. Why is it that getting a decent amount of sleep makes me so tired you'd think I got no sleep at all. Weird.

Random cool places to visit
Oh jeez, I ended up not going to London today after all. Should be going tomorrow, though!!
Really cool paper maché fish.
Cute way to use old (or new) glass jars.
Snow globe soaps. How cute is that?! I actually used to collect snow globes.. but not anymore..
Star Wars sheets turned into bags. Very cool. Not sure I could cut into them if I had SW sheets, though...
Packaging templates.
D.I.Y shrink plastic. I might have to try this. One day. You know, THAT day when you have all the time in the world to try all the things you'd like to try.Labels: links

Bag for my camera
My poor camera is pretty scratched on the outside because I didn't have a bag for it. I do now! I had this brainwave the other day "oh, I'll make a drawstring bag from this blue felt I have here in front of me because I've used it for another project".
Obviously, I couldn't stick to that simple idea! Duh! So instead I made this today. Two different fabrics on the outside and felt lining. Handmade 'string' as well. Why would you make it simple when you can make it with at least four extra steps? ;-)

PS - Please pop over to Nicky at HappySquirrel. She is super-nice has just started sewing AND blogging so go on get, say hi and welcome her to the blogosphere. :-)

Quickie ten
I read way too many blogs. But what can you do? I thought I'd start doing this once a week: a quick post with the first 10 blogs I check first on a given day (maybe a reading pattern will emerge). Won't you play along? It doesn't have to be on the same day every week. Just whenever we feel like it. Or, er, when/if we remember to do it.

Good news + some links
Hey, we really enjoyed National Treasure: Book of Secrets on Wednesday. It's a bit samey as the first one, but I think you can say the same thing about the Indy movies. ;-) I can recommend it.
Yesterday Tony had a job interview and they sure didn't interview a lot of people, or need a lot of time to think things over, because they called back in the afternoon to offer him the job. He is very happy and I'm very proud of him. Of course, I had a good feeling about this interview, because the phone number of his new place of work has 1138 in it. Silly, I know. But I was right, wasn't I? ;-)
A couple of other things: a big happy birthday (yesterday) to the sweet Theresa.
And pop on over to Cheryl's new blog to say hi. She's the reason I finally got my act together and wrote the sketchbook cover tutorial.
Oh, btw, did you take my survey type thing yet? It's just a bit of fun.
G. K. Chesterton on Lying in Bed.
Awesome 1950s halter dresses.
A week of food around the world.

The AnyBody website is an interesting read.

Links for you
Eh, I've been a bit quiet, for no particular reason. Apart from not making anything or doing anything worth sharing. So...
But today I was lucky to find a lovely crochet book in a charity shop: Simple Stylish Crochet by Melody Griffiths. It has a different cover than the one that link takes you to (sorry, I haven't got a picture of mine...). I sort of recognised the title but obviously not the cover - I think the cover on the one I got is better, though- and I've been eyeing that one on Amazon for a while, but that cover didn't really speak to me, so I never bought it. But now I do have it, and for a pittance of £2.50!
Anyway, I thought you might like to while away the time with some links:
pretty little things
Hoola Tallulah Blog
Laura Pirnat - wow!
Sheep Poo Paper - and apparently they make reindeer poo paper as well!!
Ellie Poo Paper - and rhino poo paper too!
Tissue paper pom-poms from Martha Stewart. I think they would be nice for the wedding...
Seven Blunders of the World
Some really, really fantastic posters!
When I was 12-14 years old, I wanted to become an astronomer, so of course this appeals to me: Betelgeuse and star constellations.
Wow. This is really scary.
Bread Blog. The Samosa bread sounds interesting.
There, that should keep you occupied for a couple of minutes. Have a nice weekend. :-)

Hot, hud, hut?
How do you spell that word/sound that (American) football players make?? Tony is playing Madden NFL 2008 on the Wii and it keeps making that sound. And trust me to ask him "how do you spell that?" Heh.
Anyway, here are some links I've got sitting in my browser:
Normal Room.com - You'll like that one, Camilla. ;-)
The New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy.
Some really, really cool t-shirts. I really like the Thunder one.
blu-shed. Found via Juicy Fig, a new blog (found via Sew-eco) so pop over and say hi. :-)
Momiji dolls. They are so cute, but utterly useless. A bit like me, actually. Har har.

Har har.

Snowflake + links
I made a snowflake. You can make one here. {via}
Kitty Wigs. No, really: wigs for cats. That's definitely one thing the world didn't need. Or is that just me?
Finger painting. Paintings on fingers. Pretty darn impressive!
How well do you know your world? It's a quiz. It takes a wee while to get through. Although, saying that, I've not actually gone all the way through it yet. But almost!Labels: links

More links
I hope you don't mind all these links lately; I'm getting rid of some of my 'kept new' in Bloglines, and what better place to get rid of them than post them here, eh? ;-)
Cute felt toys from KoKo.
Nice textures from Fiona Zobole.
Pretty ceramics homewares from Hannnah Tofalo.
Quite cool mugs with numeral handles.
Betsy Walton is very inspiring.
Trish Grantham is also a very inspiring artist.
isak.co.uk has some pretty neat design.
Some very sweet cups for people who like tea. And even if you don't.
Donna Wilson's creatures are soooo cute!
{I can't exactly remember where all these links are from, but most of them are via designmilk}Labels: links

Links and dough
My fingers smell of spices - I've been making dough for the first batch of Christmas baking tomorrow. I've got the next three days off and so does Tony. This makes me happy. :-)
I hope you have had a nice weekend. And here are some links to waste some time with. Some are a bit odd...
Rose and Radish.
Kate O'Connor's embroidery set on Flickr.
Fast Food: Ads vs. Reality (not for vegetarian types, ok?)
A Keyboard Waffle Iron.
Atypyk. Interesting things.
Bob Books. Print your own books.
Mapgame. Can you place all the countries?
Flickrshow.
Louise Campbell.
Tutorialblog.
Typolade. Yum!
{all links above via swissmiss}
Sandrine Pelletier.
Scrumbling.
Dagmar Binder (in German).
Deanna Tyson.
Online Scientific Calculator.

Relief + links
Oi. It never rains but it pours. First we had the weekend from Hell, and tonight Tony had an accident with his bicycle. Some tosser pedestrian crossed the road without looking and Tony didn't have time to stop and crashed into him. Down Tony and the bike went. Thankfully, he's not seriously hurt; he just has some bruises on his arm and knee. Although he is hobbling along, which of course makes me worry. But perhaps that just says more about me than the seriousness of his injury... I'm just glad he's ok. Thank the Force, right?
***
Alright, I completely forget to mention that my sewing machine mat tutorial was finally on the Sew,Mama,Sew! blog last week. Weee! How cool is that!? It was in a post along with some other neat-o gifts for the crafter, such as a Roll-Up Crochet Hook Case Tutorial and a cool reversible sewing machine cover. You should check out all the gift ideas if you haven't already!
Here's an interesting 'rant on blogging' from Keri Smith. I found myself nodding in agreement several times. Whether you agree with Keri or not, it's sometimes good to think about why (and how?) you do things.
Finally, Lisa Lam has an interview with Amy Karol on eMoms At Home which is also a very nice read.

Brownie tip and links
Here's a tip for ya: if you make brownies and they turn out not completely perfect but still edible, eat them warm with ice cream. Yummy.
Just some random links while we're watching Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves:
Sophie Adde makes some beautiful paintings.
Coasters shaped like chocolate. Oh, I want some!
Fun Tiki mugs.
Craft Geometry. An article in Science News Online (from last year) about how crochet and knitting can be used to visualise mathematical principles.
Devout Dolls. Dolls and stuffed oddities by Sara Lanzillotta.Labels: links

Sew,Mama,Sew!
Have you ever checked out Sew,Mama,Sew! ? It's pretty cool, I gotta tell ya. And all through November they have a really cool thing going on. Sew,Mama,Sew! Handmade Holidays: 30 Days of Gifts to Sew! Where each day they have a theme with loads of tutorials and such from all over the blog-o-sphere. And to make it even more cool (to me, anyway, he he), my sewing machine mat tutorial is part of it too. Yay! Thank you, Beth, for including me. :-)

Can inspiration be an addiction?
So many cool things 'kept new' in Bloglines.. it's time to wittle it down a bit. So here are some links to neat stuff I'd like to try out. Eventually. ;-)
A Steampunk (what a cool word!) Lady Artisan's Apron.
A neat bag strap tutorial.
An Ewok crochet pattern!!
Another tutorial: straight sided triangular cosmetic bag.
Old sweater cuffs refashioned into (super!) cute baby booties.
Sew your own hoodie. I really want to start sewing some kind of clothing, although I probably won't start with this hoodie.
Pleated pouch tutorial.
How to sew fabric onto knitted or crocheted projects.
Bender crochet pattern. Almost as cool as an Ewok!
How to make a foundation pieced stripe quilt. Okay, I have no idea what foundation pieced actually means, but the picture looks so pretty I want to make one! ;-)
Sunny day dress and top tutorial.
How to make wine cork stamps.
How to sew a reversible apron.
Magazine mobile.
DIY earring holder frame.
Wipe-clean coaster tutorial.
How to sew a patternless A-line skirt. Perfect, I don't like using a pattern! ;-)
How to sew an envelope pillow.
How to sew welt pockets.
How to wind a center-pull ball of yarn.
All of the above via the Craft Magazine blog.Labels: links

Link to Happiness
No work for me today, or yesterday, cause I'm still an ill li'l bunny, so no acts of crafting have been taking place. But I'm starting to feel better (fingers crossed, knock on wood etc!)
I stumbled upon a website/blog, can't remember where, but I think it's worth a read. Here you go: The Happiness Project.Labels: links
