Chair makeover

Looky-looky! Our dining table chairs are slowly getting made over. And I mean slowly. S-l-o-w-l-y. We bought the new fabric in Denmark at the end of April. April. Almost 8 months ago.

I recovered one chair 2-3 months ago and decided this would be a 2-person job. And we didn't get on with it until the start of December. But one chair is still not done. I wonder if it will actually get done before the year is out!

Still, 3 out of 4 chairs is not too bad. And they look a lot better than the original faux suede cover. Which is starting to look a bit 'used'. The chairs are from IKEA, in case you are interested. I believe it's called 'Roger'. The fabric is 'Magnificent' from Prestigious Textiles in the UK. Can't find it on their site... I've found it on another site though (with really bad pictures! The white background looks green in the picture. Ick.)

Annamoa from IKEA

I am sorry these pictures aren't the best, but I hope you can still tell how awesome these fabrics from IKEA are. They are both called Annemoa, but as you can tell, they are different. And there are another 3 with that name too. All designed by the same person, Lotta Kühlhorn, and all large, funky prints. I really wish that IKEA would stop doing this, 4-5-7 different, but similar, fabrics all with the same name. It's kinda confusing. And it shouldn't be that difficult for them to keep track of a different name for each one these days. There's this thing called a computer which could do that in a cinch. ;-)

Anyway, these fabrics. Awesome. Love the colours, really vibrant and the prints are fun and happy. Much better colours in reality than the pictures on the IKEA website suggests.
Actually, I want to ask you if you have the similar experience with the fabric department in IKEA as I do. In our IKEA (Thurrock) you cut the yardage yourself and then you have to have it weighed and they put it in a sealed bag with a price sticker and barcode on it.

If there is actually someone around in the fabric department, you can be absolutely sure that the moment you have cut the last piece of fabric you need, they will vanish into thin air. So you are left standing there for ages. And of course, there's noone else in the nearby departments either. When they finally do show up again, usually you don't even get an apology for waiting. Seriously, this is not an isolated case, it happens everytime. So, we have started to just weigh it ourselves and print off the sticker.

So many times I have thought about writing to them and complain about it. It is really frustrating! Has anyone else experienced this in their local IKEA?

Happy mis-match

Remember all those pillowcases I got in the bargain bin in IKEA a little while ago? I've put them to use now! Along with some other bargain corner finds + some thrifted fabric and some that were given to me. There are 2 or 3 that I have bought from a fabric shop.

All these fabrics are completely mis-matched but I think they go very well together anyway. Even the ones that were given to me and that I don't really fancy so much. I guess all fabrics find their use eventually, eh? ;-)

I still need to back it - there won't be a middle layer because I want it to be as light as possible. I am hoping to find some suitable thrifted fabric when we go to Denmark. Charity shops in Denmark are way better than overhere. Only a little over a week until we go overthere - can't wait! :-)
