Orange
Random flower photo from my mobile phone. The colours are completely off, but I like it anyway. And I guess it kinda fits the colours of the current season. ;-)

Perfect imperfection
You could say that, technically, this is a terrible photo. You could also say that technicalities don't always matter.Labels: flowers, oh so pretty

I hope you don't mind a few pictures of tulips?
The other day, when Tony noticed these tulips, he said "you're not alloved to buy flowers for you, that is my job!" Isn't that sweet?

Yellow on my desk
When Tony came back from the walking-distance shopping on Saturday, he brought me a BIG bouquet of roses. There were so many it was enough for two vases! One of them is on my desk. It makes me happy to have them there. Like sunshine in a vase.
Here is some of the stuff that shares the desk with the roses. Just for fun, I've made some notes on this photo on Flickr.

Garden makeover
This morning we went to the garden centre to get some new pots for our lavender plants.
We ended up getting a few new plants as well, so now our 'garden' looks like this. Lovely. Four different plants, so we should get a long season of prettiness. If they all survive, of course. But we really want them to and I also finding myself increasingly interested in plants. Although, whether that is just a fascination with their shapes and Latin names, I'm not quite sure!
Look at that little chap in the red pot on the right. It used to live in one of the terracotta planters with one of the lavenders. It must be incredibly hardy, because not only has it survived my skills as a gardener. But the lavender roots had more or less taken over the whole of the planters, so it's quite amazing that the little plant survived that too.
Best thing about this plant business is seeing Tony digging in (sorry, that was a terrible pun) and getting his hands dirty. His dad loves his garden and so did his granddad, so I have hopes for our future (proper) garden.

This is the picture I wanted to post yesterday. Now it gets a post all to itself. It can SO carry it off. Beauty.Labels: flowers

Getting real?
So. I may be changing my mind about having real flowers in my bouquet. I blame it all on you, Chelsea Flower Show. Damn you for being so irresistibly pretty! These are some flowers I like, (starting top left, moving clockwise) celosia, craspedia (oh love!) dahlia and peony. And then combined with some green chrysanthemums. All of this against my red dress. People will definitely see me coming, eh?

Right-o. Time for work. Hey-ho.

Book, love, yarn
This is what I'm crocheting at the moment. A baby blanket, just because they are so relaxing to make- no thinking required. Apart from keeping track of what colour to use next and how many rows to do of it! I don't know anyone having babies in the immediate future, so I'll probably put it up for sale on Etsy, once it's finished.
And I'm reading Body and Soul by Anita Roddick. It is a very interesting read. Although some bits annoy me a little bit, but I can't quite put my finger on why...
Roses from my sweet Tony. Did I ever mention what a swell guy he is? Not only does he surprise me with flowers, he also does the dishes (without grumbling too much) while I'm doing some other stuff. I sometimes think he's the one who deserves the flowers, but I suspect he would decline...
Yarn for another blanket. Yeah, I just can't get enough! ;-b

Pretty flowers
I want a garden, so I can have a never-ending supply of flowers to cut and subjects for photos.
If I can keep the flowers alive, of course. But dead flowers are a subject too, I guess.
These flowers are in Tony's parents' garden. For the life of me I will never understand why they never cut any of the flowers and take them inside.Labels: flowers

Roses + rosy
Tony gave me a lovely bunch of roses on Saturday. Completely out of the blue. That's the best kind! And that picture so doesn't do them justice. The colour is amazing.
And speaking of roses, take a look at those rosy cheeks! Such a pretty cover on the Autumn 2007 catalogue from Gudrun Sjödén. The whole thing is such eye candy - and the clothes aren't bad either. It's just a shame that it's way out of my price range...Labels: flowers, inspiration

Against all the odds
Oh just look at my little sweet sweetpea! Until a couple of days ago I really feared that I had managed to kill this ickle little plant like almost every other plant that cohabits with me. But there they were, yesterday morning: tiny buds and one blooming blossom already!
Oh, I was so happy!
The last couple of weeks it had been looking a bit sad, so I asked Tony's dad what could be the problem; I'm watering it plenty!? Turns out that might have been the problem (usually, it's too little water that's the culprit!), the poor plant's roots were drowning! So I watered it less and kept my fingers crossed, and apparently it worked.
I wonder what else I can make grow now!Labels: flowers

I'd like to spend a day here
I'm not terribly good at keeping plants and flowers alive, but I'd love it so to go have a peek at all the wonders at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. I was going to ask Tony's parents if maybe they'd like to go, but then I forgot (d'oh!) Maybe next year, 'cause tickets for this year have already sold out!
What I'd especially like to have a look at is the Where the Wild Things Are garden designed by Tiggy Salt (love that name!). I love that book, and how much fun it would be to see the garden inspired by the book.
And all the other gorgeousness at the Flower Show. At least I can watch it on BBC, with (who else?) Alan Titchmarsh & co. There's also a webcam, but that seems somewhat not-so-satisfying...Labels: flowers, inspiration
