Oh my, it feels really cold this morning. I guess it doesn't help that I am sitting right by our large windows! Maybe I should retreat to the sofa, bury myself under a couple of blankets and do some creating while watching an episode or 3 of Matador. :-)

I really need to get some stuff made in the next month because on November 15 I am participating in a craft fair! Eep! I'll tell you more when it gets a bit closer and stuff.

For now - here's some more of what my grandma made (previous post). Bobbin lace again. This one is about 30-40 cm long. And veeeeery pretty, don't you think? I love the 'scrolls' on the ends. Enjoy!

This is the first of a few posts to show of some beautiful things made by my (paternal) grandma. I think I have mentioned her here before. I don't think there was a textile or yarn craft she couldn't do. Knitting, embroidery, sewing, crochet, rug hooking, needlepoint.. you name it. She used to teach classes and she and my grandad even had a yarn shop!

I am not sure exactly when she took up bobbin lace making, must have been at some point in the late 1980s, as she was almost 70 when she took up this craft. It's never (ever, ever!) too late to learn something new!

When my grandad passed away this spring, I asked if I could have the pieces of lace that were still in his flat (he had moved to a smaller place a few years ago, a little after my grandma passed away). So now I am the very proud owner of this and another example of my grandma's bobbin lace work. I hope one day to have a way to properly display them.

I really wish I had been into craft when my grandma was a live. Or rather, had appreciated it enough to take a proper interest in it. Because I wish she could have taught me to do bobbin lace. But I guess it's never too late to learn!

This is a fairly large piece, 40-50 cm long, so it must have taken a fairly long time to make. I still remember grandma sitting at the window, overlooking the street, while working with her lace pillow and bobbins.
