Inside & Outside

I forgot to show you, I got my little book, Inside & Outside, a couple of weeks ago. Love. It. It is sooo cool to look at your own pictures in book form. I can highly recommend using Blurb to make your own books/photo albums.

Because it takes up a lot less space than regular albums and if you lose it, all isn't lost, you can just order another copy! And they would make pretty great gifts, I reckon.

This is one of my favourite spreads in the book. Technically, I guess you'd say that the photos All Wrong. First of all, they are taken from a car, on a cloudy day with the wrong settings on the camera etc etc. But I so love the etheral, dream-like feel of these photos. Hooray for happy 'mistakes'!

Some people find that Blurb books take a while to arrive, but I think both the times I've ordered books from them, I've received them within or just over a week after ordering. Not bad, I think!

I have decided that I am going to make sure I take more photos of us, of the everyday and on holiday and all sorts. And then after each year make a book. As nice as it is to look at pictures on the computer, there is certainly something to be said for flicking through pages of memories...

Another favourite photo (the one on the left). It's from my hometown in Denmark. They put up this 'canopy' of lights in the High Street and it just looks lovely. Even when there's no snow, you can't help feeling a bit of Christmas cheer when you see that. Shame I won't be seeing it in person this year...

So I made a book

And this is it. Still waiting to receive the actual book, but I made it nonetheless. It's quite addictive making books with Blurb. Making the ones from our wedding and honeymoon pictures was a lot of work, but darn fun too. So I've been itching to make another, you know, just for fun!

So I did. It is called 'Inside & Outside', because that is pretty much what it is; and eclectic mix of pictures I have taken over the past few years. Some are inside, some are outside. Some are taken from a plane, some from a moving car. Some are very colourful and some are very not. Click here to get a preview of the book...

It is really easy to make books with Blurb. You just download their book program, add photos and text, move stuff around until you're happy and Bob's your uncle! I actually didn't realise before that you can actually customise the templates supplied in the program, but you can which is really great because you can truly make it your own. :-)

Small Stitches - with love

Happy Monday, everyone! Wow, I am absolutely excited about my news today: I have written an e-book! I've been working on it for the past month and half and now it is finally done so I can share this news with you. The book is called "Small Stitches Booklette" and it is an introduction to embroidery stitches. You can get the book here.

You know I love embroidery (you DO know that, right?!) and I hope that this little book will help others to discover the joy of stitching. Embroidery isn't just cross stitch, it can be anything you can possibly imagine. I think maybe that is what I love the very most: that it is so versatile; there's a type of embroidery to suit everyone!

I've made a page for the book where you can read more about the details, like what stitches you can learn from the book and sneak peeks at a couple of pages and some of the patterns and images. The book includes 9 patterns for you to have fun with. Atleast I hope they will be fun!

Yes, that leaf there is filled with like a gazillion French knots, which is a great way to perfect your 'knotting' skillz. This is one of the patterns in the book, along with 2 other leaves. And guess what! Because autumn is right around the corner, you can download a page with those 3 leaves in 2 sizes for your own foliage-related stitching fun. Yay!

I am going to make a 'leftie' version of the book too, it's almost ready, but it may not be completely done until we come back from holiday. However, if you want this version of it, buy it and let me know in a note to seller to hurry up already with that 'south paw' version - that should speed things up! ;-)

I hope people will be inspired by the book and take the patterns to places I can't even imagine. Embroidery is fun! And although it is time consuming, it is also a great pleasure to work on. And the more you work on it, the easier and quicker it will be! :-)

This is one of the patterns in the book and it is also available on its own, because it is goes with some of the other patterns I've done. I reaaaaaally love it! It is called Pompeii Arabesque, because when I had finished stitching it, it really reminded me of some of the frescos we saw in Pompeii. You can find it right here.
