Wasting telemarketers' time

I've had a few calls from my mobile provider this week and they have all been stupid and a complete waste of time. Like, in one they asked if I had a laptop (no) and if I was planning on getting one (again, no). After I told them no, they had no further need to talk to me on that occasion. Waste. Of. My. Time.

So, I have made a decision. If they can waste my time, by golly, I am going to waste theirs too.

Last night there was yet another call, this is approximately how it went down:

Telemarketer (TM): Good evening, is this Mrs so-and-so?

Me: Speaking

TM: hello, I am calling from 'mobile company'. Are you having a nice evening?

Me: Yes, thank you. How is your evening going?

TM: Fine, thank you.

Me: So have you got any nice plans for the weekend?

TM: Uhm, sorry?

Me: Do you have any nice plans for the weekend?

TM: uh..umm..errr..ah.. well, not working (confused laugh)

Me: Oh that sounds nice

TM: 'mobile company' would like to give you an expensive dongle-

Me: No, thank you.

TM: Oh.. can I ask why not?

Me: I don't need one.

TM: But-

Me: Thank you. Bye.

I am a bit disappointed that I couldn't keep the pointless chit-chat going for longer. But the call took me by surprise (they always do, don't they?) Maybe I should have a script prepared; just like they have. I wonder how long I could keep it going, there must be a breaking point somewhere, because I am sure they have a certain amount of calls they need to make.

Ah well. Any suggestions for stupid things to talk to them about? Also, I'd love to hear your stories if you try a similar tactic. :-)
