Water damage

Look at that! A little while ago there was a leak in the toilet (clean water!!) which ran through to the bedroom, making the carpet wet. When we realised it, we moved the chest of drawers away from the wall to let the carpet dry - the toilet is right behind the drawers on the other side of the wall.

Then yesterday I noticed this dark bit on the drawers. Some kind of mould or something. Apparently it got more wet than we realised and now with the hot (hot, hot!) weather we're having I guess it just went in 'full bloom'.

Most of my fabric and other craft supplies are in those drawers and I don't know if the mould might damage it. Is there anything I can do about it, maybe? Or should we get another chest of drawers? I really don't want all my crafty things to get ruined, as you can imagine!

Any ideas or advice are very welcome. Especially the ones that suggest we get a new one, so I have an excuse to get a bigger one. I promise to get it from the bargain corner in IKEA. ;-)
