Expect me to whine like this every other Wednesday
For the foreseeable future I shall be feeling rather miserable every other Wednesday. You see, that is when I have to go to the JobCentre to sign on. Not that they are actually giving me any money; apparently I've not worked up enough NI credit and Tony works full time so I/we are entitled to exactly nothing. Except for a nominal amount towards continuity of NI credits, but of course that doesn't help us. So, I still have to go there every other Wednesday.
I really, really hate it. And the thing I hate about it the most is the fact that you have to keep a meticulous record of everything you do to find a job (I know, I know, you'd do that anyway) and then you have to show that to them at the JobCentre so they can see that you are indeed looking for a job. I really don't like this sort of control. It's like they don't trust that you WANT to get a job, that you would rather SPONGE off them. Yeah, for a measly £60 a week it is really WORTH not having a job.
I don't like feeling like I'm untrustworthy or a child or a criminal that has to be monitored. And I also don't like having to go there and feel like I'm being lumped together with chavs in their white track suits who, by all accounts, DO have to be monitored. Sheesh.Labels: life and such
