Zipping help

I've spent a ridiculous amount of time already looking for a long zip for a project I want to make. But I can't find any! I'm looking for a zip that's approximately 120cm (47") long. Do you know where to find such a thing?

I have been searching for upholstery zips, but that turns up very, very long zips - several metres. And that's way too long! I have found some where you get metres of zips with loose sliders. And this could work for my project. I've just never used those, so how does that work? You just cut off the required length and simply slide the slider onto it and sew it together at both ends and then use it like you would any other zip?

Any help would be very much appreciated - and there might be a future tutorial in this (if I can get it all to work!)
