Shawl and scallops
My Sweet Pea shawl is coming along quite nicely, once you get the rhythm down it works up pretty quickly. And it is very quickly gobbling up the four skeins I had originally bought. The funny thing about it is that the widest third of the shawl will use about half of the yarn needed for it. I know, because I counted the shells and did the figures. I'm not particularly good with math, but I do like to count things... And don't even get me started on Fibonacci; I can feel my heart skipping already!
When we were in Denmark in August (so too long ago!) I saw a beautiful scallop-edged quilt in a shop and I'd been wondering how to make something like that. The simple solution is to be found in Bend-the-Rules Sewing, by Amy Karol (like you didn't know). So this afternoon I thought I'd have a go - using the stripy top I made a little while ago. It's not completely done yet, there's still the quilting bit to go. And I might even do that by hand! The scallops are far from even size - this is what happens when you do things freehand. But that just adds charm. ;-)Labels: wip
