To you and yours

It's almost here.. are you ready? We are (we think, anyway...). Presents are wrapped, food has been prepared, presents have arrived from Denmark and the US.

Tomorrow evening we'll have an (almost) traditional Danish Christmas dinner, with caramelized potatoes (oh how I love those!) and ris à la mande, a rice pudding type dessert, with warm cherry sauce. Oh, it's a gorgeous dessert! But T doesn't like it, shame...

It will be strange to not have the Christmas Eve I'm used to. I doubt I'll be able to get T to dance around the tree with me or sing carols, like we do in Denmark. But we will open some presents tomorrow evening. And some on Christmas morning plus some when we go to T's parents' for Christmas dinner.

I just wish I didn't have to work tomorrow or Boxing Day; it makes it seem like Christmas is all too short. Why this obsession with consumption? Can't we take time off from commercialism and spend time with friends and family?

Whatever you're doing, wherever you are, I wish you and yours a very merry, happy, warm and cosy Christmas.
