I Think I Left A Cliff Hanging...

So. There's less than a month to the presidential election in the US. I would like to say something about that. Not that I expect anybody to care. Or to listen even. But I shall say it anyway.

Everyone should have an opinion on this subject. After all, it also effects the rest of the world whatever schmuck occupies the Oval Office. The fact that one country has this much impact on the rest of the world, I find rather worrying. But I digress.

If you know me, you are probably aware that I'm not overly fond of Bush. He seems like a stupid, ignorant fool who has no idea what he's doing and is being told when to shit and eat. That is certainly the impression one gets from watching him on telly.

Now, my sister's boyfriend is American and he claims that this is an act. To make him seem more like a regular guy. (Bush, not my sister's boyfriend, you understand) The reason for this being that he will be perceived as much more approachable this way. People would much rather have a president that is just like them. Apparently this means having a slurred speech, forgettng where you are, starting wars for no reason in particular (not completely unlike your average drugdealer I would imagine..).

To me, and lots of Europeans, Bush doesn't seem too intelligent. In any respect. Although he has been to Harvard. Not that that has any meaning at all. If you've got money and the right connections, you can go anywhere. Even the White House.

Kerry, on the other hand, does seem to be somewhat more blessed with the ability to think for himself. Maybe even intelligent. But I suspect that this will make him stand out, be less approachable, and less like your pick-up driving, gun-swinging neighbour.

I don't understand why so many Americans will vote for Bush considering his appearing to be so stupid. It's like they would rather have a guy running the country who is just like them, which, judging by the current president, doesn't say a lot about the Americans in general. God forbid that someone who was more intelligent than themselves would lead their country!

If it were me, I'd prefer a president/prime minister who was more intelligent than me. S/he would be the leader of the country for heaven's sake!

If you're American, remember to register to vote. And please don't vote Bush.
If you can't find any other reason to vote for Kerry, the fact that he's been on an episode of Cheers should be reason enough.

You get the leaders that you deserve, please vote responsibly. Don't vote Bush.
